Riley's Farm Reflection |
Lines of Inquiry |
The Riley’s farm field trip did not sound that appealing at first. It was a long drive and a boring one. I had heard that it was boring from a couple of my friends who had done it before. The first activity was weaving. We were weaving something red, white and blue. I am not quite sure what it was. Weaving was surprisingly easy. It was also kind of fun. I had a good time doing it. Our next station was learning how to make flour and butter. I got to sign the petition to fight against the king of England. I also made flour for a few minutes and then I kind of just stood around. It wasn’t my favorite station. The next station was my favorite station. It was where we learned to be soldiers. The “commander” told us marching commands and kind of teased Dillan and kept yelling “About face!” And Dillan always had to be in front because he was the flag carrier. It was really funny. Our next two stations I manage to embarrass myself twice. At the water fountain we were learning about the Stamp Act of 1765. I was one of two people two give up my shingles. It sucked! I failed really hard. I did practically the same thing in court. I volunteered to testify against Natalie for smuggling. The “Judge” kept asking us all of these strange questions. Eventually he came to the conclusion that all 3 of us who testified were criminals as well. Then he said, as he pulled out his sword, he said,”Who wants to volunteer for the stabbing?” Everyone raised their hands. In my head I said, “Really guys, c’mon!” Then he said, “No, it’s a joke! Put your hands down!” Then, after that, we did a reenactment of one of the battles. Our side, the Militia won against the Redcoats. It was really fun. Our field trip was really fun overall.(minus the drive!) I had a great time and got to participate in a historical event. I had an awesome time. |

Causes of the American Revolution that The most obvious of many reasons for the American Revolution was the oppressive taxing by King George III. He put a tax on anything he could. Then, there was the Boston Massacre, which led to the Boston Tea Party, which led to the Intolerable Acts in which Britain blockaded the Boston harbor. The colonists grew so angry that they fought the Redcoats on the Old North Bridge in Lexington on April 19, 1775 and started the Revolutionary war.
